Subterra Series Tier 15 Handhole (32x44x45 ID)

Approved

BABA, BEAD

Compliant

Made in USA

The Subterra Max Tier 15 handhole in the 32x44x45 internal size is the deep option in the mid-tier line. Its 45-inch depth gives the most internal volume in the Tier 15 range, with room for large coils and multiple splice cases. The HDPE base and Impact Modified Resin lid hold Tier 15 loads. At around 172 lb it may warrant a lifting aid on placement.

Description

The Subterra Max Tier 15 handhole in the 32x44x45 internal size is the deepest enclosure in Norvant’s mid-tier line, built for mixed-load sites that need maximum internal volume without stepping up to Tier 22. The 45-inch depth gives crews the space to store large slack coils, stack multiple splice cases and rack cable for future growth, making it well suited to aggregation points on utility corridors and shoulders. The HDPE base and Impact Modified Resin lid deliver dependable Tier 15 performance at around 172 lb, keeping it far lighter than an equivalent concrete structure while holding a mid-tier load class. The added depth and mass mean a lifting aid is sensible on placement. An anti-heaving ribbed sidewall design locks the unit into backfill to stop settling after install, and internal ribbing adds strength under working ground. This size accepts the same cable management, locating puck and custom branding options as the rest of the Max Tier 15 range. Engineered to meet ANSI/SCTE 77 Tier 15 and BABA and BEAD compliant, it is ready for federally funded mid-tier builds.

Comparison

Norvant Design Innovation vs Standard Handhole Features

See how Tier 3 stacks up on capacity, lead time, installation, and compliance.

Design Feature

Why This Matters

Norvant Solution

Standard Market Offerings

Lid Security in Flood Conditions

Heavy rain causes vaults to flood, pressure buildup lifts lids into traffic or they float away

Auto-Latch System – automatic locking prevents lid displacement under pressure

Manual friction-fit lids that can dislodge; requires separate locking mechanisms or weighted lids

Ground Movement Protection

Freeze-thaw cycles and soil heaving push vaults upward, breaking seals and damaging installations

Flared Anti-Heaving Base Design – wider footprint resists vertical displacement from frost and water action

Straight-wall designs rely on weight alone; vulnerable to seasonal ground movement

Structural Strength

HDPE is lightweight but must withstand Tier 22 load ratings (33,750 lbs) without flexing

Ribbed Sidewall Engineering – internal reinforcement maintains structural integrity at lower weight

Smooth walls requiring thicker material or composite reinforcement to achieve same load rating

Working Space for Splicing

High-density fiber deployments need room for splice cases, slack storage, and future cable additions

25% Larger Internal Capacity at same price tier – future-proofs against network growth

Standard internal dimensions force premature change-outs as take-rates increase

Asset Location & Management

Field crews waste time locating buried infrastructure; asset databases become outdated

Designed for Locating Puck Integration – optional sensor enables GPS mapping and digital asset management

No provisions for tracking technology; relies on paper maps or technician memory
